Character Picture 1: Tira

Character Picture #1. (This may or may not continue, depending on whether it does, :P)

This is a hand drawn (computer refined) picture of Tira, a princess from my Camp NaNoWriMo novel.

While this picture might not be too accurate, at least it gives you an idea of what she (sort of) looks like.  Tell me what you think of it - even though it's a pretty bad drawing.  Oh well, I tried at least a half dozen times before to get it to look like this.  (The eyes were the hardest part...)

Separation of Plot and Character Part 1

It is often believed that plot is - basically - what happens in the story.

That assumption is entirely not true.  In fact, character is actually more of what happens in the story.

Why?

Well, for you answer, you'll have to know that roughly, there's about three different plot types.

Romance.

The Man Who Learned Better (Ebeneezer Scrooge for example).

And, The Heroic Quest.

(This is the same as what you'd learn in OYAN, by the way).

Each modern day plot has elements of each of those basic plot types.  And those are plots, what actually happens is plot as well, but here's what isn't plot.

The book circles around the Main Character, and he (or she) learns throughout the book.  That isn't the plot.  And often times, that's the most important thing about the book.

We respect changes in the character.

Hard changes.

Ones that leave the Main Character changed dramatically.

The plot is just to further along what's happening inside the Main Character.

The Character travels from point A to point B (and this isn't traveling physically, though it could be that as well).

In between point A and B, the plot occurs, and that's the only reason the character changes.

I hoped you liked those pictures of Klauvius standing by his castle - because the camera-man would be quite mad (if he was still with us) to learn you didn't enjoy them....

Characters In Costume

I did so, only I dressed up as my antagonist instead.

So here are the pictures (and for some reason I look like a little kid in them, be forewarned.  I think it was because the clothes were a bit big for me).

 Klauvius isn't a chicken thief - he's the general of a bandit army - but apparently the fleeing chicken behind looked tasty...

Klauvius was kind enough to pose with his bow after devouring those unfortunate chickens.

And here's Klauvius taking a swipe.  That poor, poor camera-man... he was only doing his job.
